
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Rail Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join the team at our Eastleigh depot. Working across a diverse range of rolling stock, you will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, periodic inspections and reactive repairs to keep vehicles in safe, reliable working order.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a rail-only environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of vehicle types, following documented maintenance procedures and contributing to the high standards Arlington Fleet Services is known for.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on a range of passenger and freight rolling stock
Perform periodic examinations and inspections to the required maintenance schedules
Diagnose and investigate reported faults, determining appropriate remedial action
Replace components and systems to manufacturer and industry specification
Complete accurate maintenance records and documentation following all work
Work safely in accordance with site procedures, Railway Group Standards and relevant health & safety requirements
Liaise with supervisors and the wider team to ensure vehicles are returned to service efficiently
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in rail vehicle maintenance or a closely related engineering discipline
Competency in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance of rolling stock
Familiarity with Railway Group Standards and safe working practices on or near the railway
Ability to read and work from technical drawings, maintenance manuals and engineering documentation
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
Good communication skills and a reliable, methodical approach to work
