Arlington Fleet Services is a specialist engineering and maintenance depot operating exclusively within the rail sector. From our facility in Eastleigh, Hampshire, we provide end-to-end overhaul and maintenance services for rolling stock, handling everything from routine planned maintenance to complex heavy engineering challenges.
Our clients include some of the most respected names in the UK rail industry, from major rolling stock manufacturers and leasing companies to freight operators and passenger train operators. We are the focused, technically capable alternative to in-house workshops and large, generalist contractors.
Being rail-only is not a limitation, it is our strength. Every member of our team, every piece of equipment in our workshop, and every process we follow has been refined specifically for the rail environment.
Our History
Two Decades of
Rail Excellence.
2004 — Founded
Established at Railway Works, Eastleigh
Arlington Fleet Services was established at the Railway Works facility on Campbell Road, Eastleigh. From day one, the business committed to a rail-only model — providing specialist maintenance and overhaul services to rolling stock operators across the UK.
2006 – 2010
Building Core Service Capabilities
The business expanded its technical capabilities to encompass bogie overhaul, wheelset services and paint & finishing. Early relationships with major rolling stock leasing companies helped establish a strong foundation of repeat contract work.
2011 – 2015
Growth in Client Base & Heavy Repair
Key relationships with Hitachi Rail, Siemens Mobility and freight operators including GB Railfreight began during this period. Heavy repair capability was developed to handle the most complex rolling stock challenges, including major structural work.
2016 – 2019
Environmental Management & ISO Compliance
Arlington invested in formal Environmental Management Systems and aligned operations with ISO standards. The DEFRA-aligned emissions reporting framework was introduced and sustainability became embedded in the company's operational approach.
2020 – Present
Trusted Across the UK Rail Supply Chain
Today Arlington Fleet Services is trusted by nine major rail organisations, including Hitachi Rail, Siemens Mobility, Belmond, Groupe CAT, GB Railfreight, Rail Operations Group, Ermewa, Colas Rail UK and Locomotive Services TOC. Eight distinct service disciplines operate from our Hampshire depot.

Our Eastleigh facility sits at the heart of the UK's southern rail network — a strategically positioned depot with excellent connectivity to operators across the region and beyond. The Railway Works site on Campbell Road has been our home since 2004 and has grown in capability alongside our client base.
The depot is equipped with the specialist tooling, lifting equipment and facilities required to undertake the full range of rolling stock overhaul and maintenance work we offer — from routine servicing bays to full heavy repair capability.
