The Role
We are looking for a Paint & Finishing Operative to join our team at Eastleigh, working on the exterior preparation and finishing of rail vehicles across a range of refurbishment, renovation and restoration projects. You will work to precise colour specifications and livery standards, contributing to the high-quality finish Arlington Fleet Services delivers to its clients.
This is a skilled, hands-on role within a specialist rail depot. You will work alongside experienced engineers and finishing professionals on a variety of vehicle types, from modern passenger rolling stock to heritage and charter vehicles requiring traditional finishes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare rail vehicle surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking and priming
Apply paint finishes and liveries to operator and manufacturer specifications
Carry out spot repairs and touch-up work, blending to match existing finishes
Apply vinyl wraps and decals as required to current livery standards
Inspect finished work to ensure quality meets the required standard before sign-off
Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with site procedures
Complete accurate records of work carried out and materials used
Skills & Experience Required
Demonstrated experience in vehicle or industrial painting and surface finishing
Attention to detail and pride in producing a consistently high-quality finish
Experience with spray painting equipment and surface preparation techniques
Ability to work to colour specifications and livery standards accurately
Knowledge of relevant health & safety requirements for paint and finishing environments
Previous experience in a rail, automotive or aerospace finishing environment is advantageous
